Discover Northwest
Northwest DC is one of the largest residential quadrants in DC, encompassing not only some of the more spectacular homes and real estate offerings in DC, but also serving as home to a number of the major landmarks and destinations in the City. Northwest DC begins just north of the National Mall and is bounded by North Capitol Street to the east and then Western Avenue and the Potomac River to the west. Rock Creek Park is approximately 1,700 square feet and the majority of the parkland is centrally located in the northwest quadrant of DC. Upper Northwest or the “suburban” part of DC is often described as the area west of Rock Creek Park or in shorthand called Northwest. Well known landmarks include the Smithsonian National Zoo, the National Cathedral, the Georgetown Waterfront, American University, and Georgetown University.
