Tour DuPont Circle, Washington, DC 20036

There is not a more iconic traffic circle in DC than Dupont.

For our 42nd ONSITE episode we are touring DuPont Circle in Washington, DC.

Originally called Pacific Circle and renamed to honor Rear Admiral DuPont, the circle has been at the center of DC’s life. From millionaires’ grand homes in the 1870’s to the heart of Bohemian DC in the 1970’s the circle is right where commercial downtown DC meets the residential neighborhoods.

The marble Italianate Patterson Mansion built for the heiress of the Chicago Tribune even was the residence of President Coolidge while the White House underwent a renovation. It now offers memberships for use of its chic event spaces as well as furnished studio apartments by the night.

A great example of the neighborhood adapting to the evolutions of DC.
