Chevy Chase Villages Maryland

Happy Thursday folks! Today we are touring some of 20815: Chevy Chase Maryland.

In the area we call Chevy Chase, there are seven or so villages that are actual municipalities. While other parts of the zip code and County are just neighborhoods.

Chevy Chase Village, Section Three, Section Five, Martin’s Additions, The Town of Chevy Chase, North Chevy Chase, Somerset, Kenwood, Chevy Chase Terrace and Friendship Heights all make up Maryland’s 20815 zip code.

Chevy Chase Village is the original streetcar suburb from 1890s with 722 homes. It runs along the northern side of Western Avenue on both sides of Connecticut Avenue. It even has its own police department.

Martin’s Additions is named after the developer who built out the approximately 325 houses east of Brookville Road. The village plants and maintains trees in the public right-of-way. Section 3 is just north of the original village and was subdivided in 1905 and 1907. It has 282 lots and provides trash and snow removal. Section 5 was established in 1922, has approximately 227 homes built primarily before World War II, and was formed in part because of the lack of streetlights at the time.

The Town had been known as Section 4 and is the area north of Bradley Boulevard and west of Connecticut Avenue. It incorporated other sections of Chevy Chase and has 1,032 homes and provides a number of services too.
